New York Jets defensive tackle Solomon Thomas described the team’s defensive goals
Solomon Thomas thinks the New York Jets defense has a limitless ceiling in 2024.
During his Friday media availability, the veteran defensive tackle described his expectations for New York’s defense and how he thinks they can reach those expectations.
“We can be the best in the league. That’s our ceiling and that’s our standard. But it takes execution. It takes, you know, showing up every day, you know, it takes doing the details,” said Thomas.
“So, you know, it takes time like this, but camp gets hard, to show up every day and then to keep the standard the standard. It doesn’t matter if you’re tired, it doesn’t matter if you’re out of breath, it doesn’t matter if your body is sore, nobody cares. You got to keep doing your thing. So you know, we have the pieces, we have the roster. Now we just got to execute.”
Thomas also spoke about the makeup of the defensive line, saying that the unit feels like a “family” already.
”We’re building that atmosphere in the room to be those dogs, to be the number one D-line in the league. That’s our goal, that’s what we’re shooting for. But it’s been great so far, I’m super excited to play with these guys.”
There is no question that the Jets have the talent to be one of the best defensive lines in football. They have the depth and the elite talent to control games and exert their will on opponents.
It will ultimately come down to execution and if the Jets’ unit can mesh well together. If they play to their talent level, there is no reason to expect any dip in production from the team’s defensive front.
