The New York Jets have released their first unofficial depth chart.
Ahead of their joint practice and preseason game against the Washington Commanders, the team listed the projected starters at all of their offensive, defensive, and special teams positions.

The depth chart does not reveal many surprises. The wide receiver and offensive line starters are as expected. Israel Abanikanda is the fourth running back, which aligns with how the reps have played out this summer.
Some aspects of the depth chart are noteworthy. Malachi Corley is not listed as a starter at slot receiver or kick returner. Jason Brownlee is behind Irvin Charles at wideout, while Carter Warren has slotted in behind Max Mitchell. Takk McKinley is listed as the backup to Micheal Clemons.
However, a depth chart before any preseason games is mostly insignificant.
Joint practices and preseason games will dictate how the roster and position battles shape up. Current leaders may fall down the depth chart, while players currently buried may push for more prominent roles.
The unofficial depth chart is a nice talking point, but the players’ performances in the next few weeks will determine how the roster truly shapes up.
