It was a relatively uneventful game on Saturday night between the New York Jets and the Carolina Panthers, but the Jets came out on top by a score of 15-12 for their second straight exhibition victory.

In a game with only one last-second touchdown, the Jets’ five field goals were enough to scrape by for the win. It was a very slow-paced game and, by all accounts, a typical preseason game.

However, there were some flashes by Jets players in the game.

Rookie running back Isaiah Davis continued to impress on the ground. He ran with conviction and decisiveness, constantly gaining yards when his number was called. Malachi Corley and Braelon Allen also looked strong carrying the ball, making plays as runners and receivers during their game action.

Additionally, tackle Olu Fashanu looked comfortable at right tackle. His pass blocking immediately translated to the other side, shutting down pass rushers when tested. He also looked serviceable in the running game.

There were also some nice contributors on defense and special teams.

Qwan’tez Stiggers showed off his repertoire on Saturday night, making some impressive tackles while flying downhill. Before departing with injury, Jarrick Bernard-Converse had a big pass-breakup to help force a field goal. Shemar Bartholomew had some great tackles and pass breakups.

Will McDonald had the most notable play of the game, using his patented spin move to record his first sack of the preseason.

Takk McKinley and Braiden McGregor consistently had impressive reps against the run and pass.

On special teams, Brandon Codrington had massive kick and punt returns to set up the Jets in excellent field position. He looked shifty and explosive, ripping off big gains for New York and throwing himself into the battle for both returner roles.

Moving to 2-0, the Jets will host the Giants for a joint practice this week and then will face them on Saturday night to end their preseason slate.
