One of the most interesting 2024 draft selections for the New York Jets is not expected to be activated soon.
During his Tuesday media availability, head coach Robert Saleh gave an unsurprising update on quarterback Jordan Travis’s status.
“Yeah, his rehab is going to be a little bit longer than we anticipated, obviously, but he’s in a great place. He’s in every meeting. He goes to all the walk-throughs. Hopefully, it’s something that we can revisit later in the year.”
#Jets still in the process of making cuts, per Saleh. Some injury-related decisions. Rookie QB Jordan Travis will remain on the injury list, as his rehab is taking longer than expected. Saleh says they hope to re-visit his availability later in the season.

It is not surprising to hear that Travis is not ready to play. After suffering a gruesome leg injury in college, the Florida State product was going to have a long road to recovery before getting back on the field.
Furthermore, the Jets are in a position where they do not need to rush Travis back. They have Tyrod Taylor to back up Aaron Rodgers and, depending on other roster moves, could have a viable QB3 in Adrian Martinez on the practice squad.
Having Travis take a redshirt year in 2024 would be very beneficial. He could learn behind two very talented veterans and let his body heal back to nearly 100 percent. It would be an ideal, win-win scenario for the team and Travis.
It remains to be seen how the Jets’ quarterback room will look in 2025, as the results of this upcoming season will likely have a big impact. But with a full year to recover and develop, Travis should be poised to make a bigger impact on the team in some capacity next season.
