Despite an optimistic rumor that surfaced on Thursday, there is still nothing of substance to report about Haason Reddick’s holdout, per Reddick’s agent.
On Thursday, former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi offered a glimmer of hope regarding Reddick’s holdout. Citing sources “inside the Reddick camp,” Lombardi said he expects the two-time Pro Bowler to report to the Jets late Friday night or some point on Saturday.

Lombardi stated, “I’m told reliably by people inside the Reddick camp that he will come in sometime, maybe today or tomorrow. I say that as a caveat because I think this whole holdout has been very frustrating to all of the people involved in the Reddick camp. I think they realize how stupid of a holdout it is. They’ve had a hard time convincing [Reddick] that he needs to do what he needs to do in terms of just going to camp.”
Reddick’s agent shut down Lombardi’s report, calling it “false and misleading” while claiming Lombardi has not spoken to anyone in Reddick’s camp.
Reddick has accumulated over $5 million in fines and requested a trade out of the Jets organization. The Jets have made it clear they won’t pay Reddick until he shows up and Reddick has made it clear he won’t show up until he is paid. That said, the Jets and Reddick are currently in a stalemate, and the only question is which side will budge first.
Whenever Reddick arrives, the Jets will bolster their defensive line with a highly skilled player. Over the past four seasons, Reddick has recorded 50.5 sacks, ranked fourth in the NFL over that span.
