Cleveland Browns @ Jacksonville Jaguars

The Cleveland Browns opened the season in disappointing fashion, falling to the Dallas Cowboys 33-17. The Browns looked lost on both sides of the ball as Deshaun Watson struggled to get anything going. On the Jacksonville side, the Jaguars started hot in Week 1 but eventually lost to the Miami Dolphins after giving up a 10-point lead in the second half.

I view the Browns as a much better team than the Jaguars. Last season, the Browns defense finished with the fewest yards per game allowed in the NFL, and most of their top contributors are still on the team. I think they just had a bad game in Week 1.

Jacksonville does not pose any top-tier threats on the offensive side of the ball. Trevor Lawrence only threw 21 touchdowns last season along with 14 interceptions. The Jaguars have been average at best on both sides of the ball, finishing 14th in points per game on offense and 22nd in points per game on defense in 2023.

I like the Browns to win this game outright in Jacksonville.

The play: Browns +3

Cincinnati Bengals @ Kansas City Chiefs

The Cincinnati Bengals started the season as poorly as anyone, losing at home to the New England Patriots as 7.5-point favorites. The Bengals had only 224 total yards and turned the ball over twice.

The Chiefs opened up the 2024 NFL season hosting the Ravens on Thursday Night Football. Kansas City won a 27-20 thriller at Arrowhead.

I like this as a great bounce-back spot for the Bengals. I think the Bengals were looking ahead to this game in Kansas City and overlooked the Patriots. I expect to get a very motivated Bengals team as they know if you start 0-2, your season is in jeopardy.

The Bengals are still an excellent team. Led by Joe Burrow, they will always have a chance to win it all. Burrow is 2-0 head-to-head against Patrick Mahomes in the regular season and 3-1 with the postseason included.

The Chiefs gave up 452 yards last week against the Ravens, including 185 yards on the ground. The Bengals should have plenty of chances to move the ball and score points to keep up the Chiefs’ offense.

I think the Bengals will keep this game close as this line seems inflated towards the Chiefs.

The play: Cincinnati Bengals +5.5
