Following an impressive individual performance during Week 1 of the season, the New York Jets have elevated veteran defensive tackle Jalyn Holmes to their active roster for the team’s Week 2 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
According to the team’s official X account, Holmes has been elevated to the Jets’ 53-man roster ahead of their Week 2 matchup in Nashville, TN. This move comes after defensive lineman Micheal Clemons was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

Holmes had a strong preseason performance, recording four total tackles, four total pressures, and an overall grade of 81.1 per Pro Football Focus. Unfortunately for Holmes, his efforts were insufficient to yet earn a spot on the Jets 53-man roster, prompting the defensive tackle to sign to the team’s practice squad.
He was given a chance on the team’s active roster to start the season and capitalized on it, recording three tackles on 16 snaps and earning an overall grade of 68.4, according to PFF. Last season, Holmes appeared in five games for the Jets, registering five tackles and a quarterback hit, which led the team to re-sign him in March.
The Minnesota Vikings selected Holmes in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL draft. The Ohio State product notably spent three seasons with the Vikings, recording one sack, four tackles for loss, and five quarterback hits. He has also spent time with the Chicago Bears, New York Giants and New Orleans Saints.
Throughout his career, Jalyn Holmes has tallied two sacks, 65 tackles, seven for loss, three pass deflections, and six quarterback hits.
On Sunday, Holmes will aim to prove to the Jets that he deserves a permanent spot on the team’s 53-man roster.
