Pittsburgh Steelers @ Las Vegas Raiders

The Steelers are entering Week 6 on a two-game losing streak after starting the season 3-0. They looked like a team that could compete for their division but have taken a step back in the last two weeks. Meanwhile, the Raiders are still trying to figure out their quarterback position. Head Coach Antonio Pierce is now rolling with Aiden O’Connell after starting Gardner Minshew in the first 5 games.

I think Aiden O’Connell is a decent backup who will give the Raiders the spark they desperately need on offense. O’Connell started 10 games last season and finished with a record of 5-5, including a win at Arrowhead Stadium. He completed 62% of his passes for 2,218 yards and added 12 touchdown passes.

The Steelers’ offense is not very good at anything. Through five games, they rank 23rd in total yards, 27th in passing yards, and 26th in points. Pittsburgh has been carried by its dominant defense all season and I expect that to continue.

If the Raiders can manage to score 20 points in this game, I think they will end up winning outright. I like the Raiders in this spot to keep this game close.

The play: Las Vegas Raiders +3

Detroit Lions @ Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys and Lions represent two of the best teams in the NFC, and this could be a playoff matchup in January. The Cowboys are coming off a nice win at Pittsburgh on Sunday Night Football while the Lions had their bye week.

I think both defenses in this matchup are underrated. The Cowboys gave up only 32 points over the last two weeks and are ranked sixth-best on third down. Detroit is only allowing 20.4 points per game defensively. Also, these two teams played each other last season and there were only 39 total points scored.

I like the Cowboys’ and Lions’ pass rushes, and I think both will be able to get after the opposing quarterback this week. Aiden Hutchinson leads the entire league in sacks with 6.5. While Micah Parsons has already been ruled out in Week 6, DeMarcus Lawrence and company can still get after the quarterback in his absence. Without Parsons in last week’s win over Pittsburgh, the Cowboys still had three sacks and eight quarterback hits despite Steelers quarterback Justin Fields throwing only 27 passes.

I think this total is way too high and will take the under in this game.

The play: Under 52.5
