Another day, another twist in the Haason Reddick-New York Jets saga.

On Monday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Reddick hired Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha as his agents. Per Schefter, the pair have already spoken with the Jets and will be in attendance for the Monday Night Football matchup against Buffalo.

We look forward to working with the Jets to get this resolved as soon as possible,” Rosenhaus stated. “Haason would like to be a New York Jet for years to come and our goal is to make that happen.”

Just a few days prior, the Creative Arts Agency (CAA) cut ties with Reddick amid reports that he rejected any deal his agents tried to negotiate with the Jets. A later report emerged regarding a lawsuit alleging Reddick hired goons to intimidate a business partner.

Rosenhaus has sealed many long-term deals for his clients, including Tyreek Hill, D.J. Moore, and Nico Collins. It remains to be seen whether he and Matha can get the deal done with Reddick. The language about being a Jet for “years to come” does not seem promising, as the previous deal negotiated by CAA included a significant pay raise but not a long-term deal.

With his Week 6 unavailability, Reddick has now lost $10.1 million between fines, a lost workout bonus, game checks, and his lost prorated signing bonus. Of those losses, only the prorated signing bonus can be waived.

The deadline for Reddick to report without having his contract toll remains unclear. According to past arbitration rulings based on the language of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and advisement from the NFL Players Association, the most likely deadline is Week 10. That is the game following the trade deadline. According to the best of publicly available knowledge, the Week 13 deadline for a player to accrue a season does not apply in this situation.

he Jets could certainly use Reddick’s help on a defensive line that has struggled to generate quick pressure. The task before Rosenhaus in making that happen seems monumental given Reddick’s stance up until now.
