At the NFL’s owner meetings, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson offered up the line of the day when asked about making the Davante Adams trade after starting 2-4.
“You know, thinking is overrated,” Johnson said. “You have to look forward. We have to look forward to the games we’re going to play each and every week and try to win all of them … you just have to go with your instinct and what’s the best thing to build a team.”

Johnson also gave his thoughts on what he feels that Adams brings to the Jets’ offense.
“He adds to the running game. He opens up everything, and having that type of relationship with the quarterback is very important. You could see that last night.”
Regarding the rest of the season, Johnson did not mince words in his thoughts on whether the season is “salvageable” or not.
“Salvageable? We’re going to kick…you can fill the word in.”
An optimistic Woody Johnson arrives at the owners meeting in Atlanta. I asked if the season is still salvageable. “Salvageable? We’re going to kick…you can fill the word in.”

It is clear that Johnson thinks the Jets have what it takes to win right now. He sees the offense as a force to be reckoned with, especially after the addition of Davante Adams. He evidently feels more confident in the coaching of Jeff Ulbrich and Todd Downing than Robert Saleh and Nathaniel Hackett.
Now, all there is left to do is achieve the results. Nothing matters until the Jets start winning football games and rebound from their 2-4 start. For Johnson, he had better hope Adams is the catalyst to turn the ship around.
