In a post on X (formerly Twitter), ALS United of Greater New York announced that it would honor punter Thomas Morstead with one of its awards.

“Proudly announce that one of our three Lou Gehrig Sports Awards will be presented to @thomasmorstead at The Lou Gehrig Legacy Gala 11/12. Join us as we honor Thomas, @DanDoctoroff, David Lubars, Adam Graves, and John Sterling.”
It is yet another accolade for a player who is consistently making a significant impact off the field.
Morstead has been raising money this season for his cause “Punt For ALS.” Each week, the veteran punter will donate $1,000 for every punt he lands inside the 20-yard line. In 2024, Morstead has already landed ten punts inside the 20-yard line.
Additionally, the campaign itself has raised $22,026 of its $37,000 gaol through eight weeks of the season.
Through his work with ALS and his countless other philanthropic efforts, Morstead is more than deserving of this award. He represents the best of the Jets’ organization off the field and has continued to play a big role for the team on it.
While the overall team’s play on the field could be better, Morstead’s efforts are some of the best the team and the league could ask for.
