Is the Aaron Rodgers era over? One former New York Jets star thinks it is.

Appearing on “Get Up,” former Pro Bowl offensive tackle and New York Jet Damien Woody said that the era marked by the acquisition of Aaron Rodgers is now “over.”

“The Aaron Rodgers era is over. It’s officially over for the New York Jets. This team is worse this year than it was last year when Zach Wilson was the quarterback. On defense, they can’t stop you when they need stops. They are basic on offense. They are poorly coached; they do not even know the guys they have to block in the run game.

“Aaron Rodgers is just a shell of himself. Not wanting to pull the trigger on any of these throws. I will echo the point I made last week about this team. They are a roster, not a team. They are a bunch of mercenaries that do not play as a team. It’s about time for everyone at One Jets Drive to understand that it is time to blow this thing up,” said Woody.

Host and die-hard Jets fan Mike Greenberg also piled on, offering some harsh criticism for where the 2024 Jets fall in terms of “legacy.”

“The New York Jets of 2024 are one of the colossal failures in sports history. What they’re doing is embarrassing to watch.”

Former Jets head coach Rex Ryan did not hold back either, going after the coaching staff of the team.

“This team is horribly coached. This offense is a joke. I do not know who the hell is involved in their run game, but they do not know how to block inside zone or outside zone… They do not know how to double-team blocks. These guys are veteran offensive linemen, and their technique is awful.”

He also added that the Jets’ defense is “overrated” and criticized them for letting the Patriots march down the field to win the game.

At this point, the Jets deserve all the criticism. They have drastically underperformed. The only way to silence the critics is to win football games. However, with how New York has looked in the past month or so, it is fair to ask how much more of that will occur this season.
