Amid the rumblings of Garrett Wilson’s “Air Jordan” reception, Adidas has put its foot down and channeled its inner MJ.
In a press release on Friday, the sports giant made it clear that the New York Jets wide receiver is still with the brand and will not leave.

The statement reads, “PORTLAND, OR (November 1, 2024) – Following Garrett Wilson’s “catch of the year” last night in East Rutherford, New Jersey, adidas releases response to questions about his future partnership plans: ‘He can jump, man! Garrett’s not going anywhere.'”
The press release takes a unique approach to shutting down the Jordan Brand rumors that have flared up in the wake of the star wideout’s “Jumpman” like catch. Its structure is a nod to Michael Jordan’s famous press release in which he announced that he was unretiring from the NBA and returning to the Chicago Bulls. Essentially, it seems that Adidas was looking to send a warning shot back at one of its main competitors.
All of the attention signifies how Wilson is blossoming into a well-known star player. He has been one of the Jets’ best players not just on offense, but also on the entire team. Aaron Rodgers continues to build trust in him, and the offense is asking him to do more and more as the season continues.
The “Jumpman” catch may vault Wilson into a different category. Like Odell Beckham Jr., the play could bring Wilson’s upper-level play to a mainstream audience.
If that is the case, Adidas may have to do much more than release a statement to retain Wilson.
