Garrett Wilson’s teammate says he looked like a basketball legend on Thursday night.
Speaking after the New York Jets’ victory against the Texans, wide receiver Davante Adams said Wilson took after Michael Jordan with his all-time touchdown reception.

“I told him he might get kicked from Adidas after that one,” said Adams. “That one looked like he headed over to Jumpman with me. I’m going to talk to some people about that one, but I’m not saying they are going to replace the logo, and I know Mike (Michael Jordan) might not like me saying that, but that was a hard catch.
“That’s G, man. I’ve seen, like, even in walkthroughs, we’re throwing the ball back, somebody catches the ball, they’re running endzones. You know, you throw it, we start playing catch as we’re going back, and he’d just do stuff like that, so it’s not too surprising, but being able to do that in front of 80,000, maybe millions or hundreds of thousands watching at home, that’s special.”
Adams also spoke about sustaining New York’s winning play going forward.
“Just find a way to grab onto that feeling that we have right now. The feeling of what it feels like to execute, for it to be clicking and on the same page, so everybody gets on the same page, that’s what it looks like.”
When asked about his big-time play, Wilson said that he was hoping Aaron Rodgers “gave him a chance” on it.
“I try and find a way. That’s all there really is to it. Just trying to make a play. I’m glad I was able to make it. I’m glad they overturned it, all that. But yeah, that’s all. Just try to make a play and find a way to score some points.
“I was like, ‘I hope that one counts. I hope that’s not one of those that I have to be like, what if?’ But I’m glad it did. That was all my teammates. I was just happy I could make a play for my teammates. They trust me, they believe in me, they give me hope. I’m just glad I can make a play for my teammates.”
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers also spoke about the play, mentioning that he knew he was going to throw it up to Wilson if the safety dropped down.
“I didn’t do a whole lot when it comes down to it. I just kind of lobbed one up there. He made an unbelievable catch. When I saw the replay, it looked like he had his knee in, so I thought, shoot, throw the challenge. Brick (Jeff Ulbrich) was already in front of me, throwing it. But that was a huge play. The first one was a huge play as well. What was it, third-and-20? Yeah, that’s a game-changing play.”
Rodgers spoke about his play in the first half of the game and how the team adjusted in the second half.
“I was terrible. We had a touchdown taken off the board. Silly play. I feel like the energy was good at halftime. We had the chance to cash it in there.
“Morgan (Moses) gave a little speech, which was good. We were all positive and talking, and nobody was isolated at halftime. We just knew, ‘Hey, let’s just go out and score every possession.’ We said we were going to score 28-30, I kind of count it as 28 tonight even though the scoreboard says 21. But I’m proud of how we responded in the second half. I played about as badly as possible in the first half and knew it had to improve.”
Olu Fashanu also provided a fun quote, saying that he had never played offensive guard in his life and had center Joe Tippmann telling him what to do on every play.
Olu Fashanu just told me that he literally has not taken a single rep at guard until he got in the game tonight. Not in high school or college, either.
Said Joe Tippmann was telling him what to do each play.

The Jets needed a victory over the Texans in the worst way. Their hopes and dreams have been extended by at least one more week.
However, there are still plenty of issues for New York to fix on both sides of the ball. And more importantly, they have to string together victories. One win is great, but until they put together a streak, the Jets should not and cannot be considered a contender.
