One of the New York Jets’ best players has been nominated for a prestigious award.

In a post on Monday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed the 2024 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award nominees. For the New York Jets, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams was selected to represent the team.

The award represents “an NFL player who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition,” according to the league’s website.

Additionally, the league said in its announcement that “a panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community—Warrick Dunn, 2014 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award recipient Larry Fitzgerald, Pro Football Hall of Famer Curtis Martin, and Leonard Wheeler—will select eight finalists (four in the AFC and four in the NFC) from the 32 nominees.”

The award will be ” determined by a vote of current NFL players,” and the winner will “receive a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to a charity of his choice.”

Williams is a very deserving choice for the award. In addition to his play on the field, the star defensive tackle has been a mainstay helping others off of it.

He has his own charity, the Quinnen Williams Foundation, that has consistently helped people in need. One of the charity’s main events has been the “100 Reasons Why” Campaign. During this event, “The Quinnen Williams Foundation spreads $30,000 of holiday joy amongst 100 single-parent families (handpicked by Quinnen Williams) in the Birmingham, AL area.

It remains to be seen who will win the award, but if the Jets’ defensive tackle wins it in 2024, it will be well deserved.
