The New York Jets’ search for a new general manager continues. After completing interviews with Jon Robinson and Thomas Dimitroff, the team has announced it has completed an interview with a third candidate: Jim Nagy.
Nagy is the Executive Director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl, an annual NFL Draft showcase held in Mobile, Alabama. He has held the role since 2018.
As described by The 33rd Team, Nagy is “responsible for both football and business operations” of the event, which “showcases the best senior collegiate football players in the country.”
The Jets have become closely familiarized with Nagy and the Senior Bowl in recent years. Their staff coached the game in 2022, while Jeff Ulbrich served as the head coach for the National team in 2024.
Before taking his current role, Nagy had a longtime career as an NFL scout. He was the Seattle Seahawks’ Southeast Area Scout from 2013-18. Before joining Seattle, Nagy worked as a West Coast Area Scout for the Washington Redskins (2001-02), a Midwest Area Scout for the New England Patriots (2002-09), and a National Scout for the Kansas City Chiefs (2009-13), according to the Reese’s Senior Bowl official website. Across these roles, he worked under multiple successful head coaches, including Marty Schottenheimer, Bill Belichick, and Pete Carroll.
So far in their search, the Jets have appeared open to outside-the-box options. Nagy does not currently work on an NFL staff and has not for six years. In addition to Nagy, the Jets reportedly plan to interview Louis Riddick, an ESPN personality who has not worked on an NFL staff since 2013. Meanwhile, their other two confirmed interviews, Robinson and Dimitroff, have recently served as NFL general managers.
