Recent news suggests the New York Jets might be interested in a tight end NFL draft prospect not named Tyler Warren.

Perhaps Aaron Glenn and the New York Jets aren’t targeting Penn State tight end Tyler Warren with the No. 7 overall pick.

According to Sportskeeda’s Tony Pauline, Jets tight ends coach Jeff Blasko attended Oregon’s pro day on March 18. Naturally, this news ramps up the speculation that New York has interest in tight end Terrance Ferguson.

Along with Ferguson, wide receiver Tez Johnson and quarterback Dillon Gabriel are also expected to showcase their talents, but the tight end is the major name here for obvious reasons.

As it currently stands, the Jets’ are widely mocked to select Penn State tight end Tyler Warren at No. 7 in the 2025 NFL draft. Warren makes a lot of sense considering Glenn’s tight end room isn’t anything to currently write home about.

Darren Mougey signed 26-year-old Stone Smartt to a one-year deal this free agency period, but the position is far from complete. Three-year veteran Jeremy Ruckert is still rostered, as is little-used Zack Kuntz. Neal Johnson and Andrew Beck are technically listed as tight ends on the official Jets website, but the latter is more of a fullback prototype.

A massive door has swung open thanks in large part to Tyler Conklin’s current unrestricted free agency status. He remains unsigned, and there has been nothing regarding the Jets having interest in bringing him back for 2025.

Ferguson, 22, ran a respectable 4.63 forty-yard-dash at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. His inline blocking is up for debate, but his possession-catching attributes are apparent.

Oregon’s Terrance Ferguson is projected to be a Day 2 pick (second or third round). The New York Jets hold the No. 42 (Round 2) and No. 73 (Round 3) picks.
