The New York Jets have met with over 30 prospects as they prepare for the 2025 NFL draft.
While teams don’t always meet with the players they draft, it does provide some insight into which parts of the draft they may be targeting certain positions. If the team meets with several players projected to go in a single round, they’re likely targeting that position with that pick.
From the Jets’ pre-draft visits, there are some clear trends that we can analyze.
Offensive tackle will be addressed on day two
Standing with the seventh overall pick, the Jets have been widely projected to take a tackle, whether it’s Missouri’s Armand Membou or LSU’s Will Campbell.
While it’s far from guaranteed, the Jets’ pre-draft visits suggest they may be preparing to go a different direction.
The Jets have not met with either player despite the speculation. And while player visits are ongoing, the Jets have already met with six other first-round prospects.
While the Jets haven’t met with the two top tackles, they have met with multiple day two targets at the position.
The Jets were reported to have met with the following offensive tackles (overall ranks on NFL Mock Draft Database’s consensus big board):
- Oregon’s Josh Conerly (36th)
- Minnesota’s Aireontae Ersery (43rd)
- William & Mary’s Charles Grant (94th)
With New York owning the 42nd and 73rd overall picks, these prospects are in play on day two of the draft.
The Jets are returning four of their five starting linemen from the end of the 2024 season. However, right tackle is a major concern, with three unproven players on the roster. Adding a talented rookie could be the final piece to give the Jets an elite unit.
Tight end will be addressed at any point
The Jets have met with four tight ends, with one projected to go in each of the first three rounds:
- Penn State’s Tyler Warren (9th)
- LSU’s Mason Taylor (55th)
- Texas’ Gunnar Helm (97th)
- Oregon’s Terrance Ferguson (99th)
Tight end is a major need, with no player on the Jets’ current roster eclipsing 210 yards in any given season. They’ve been heavily connected to Warren, who is generally viewed as the top tight end available (although this has been challenged recently).
In an extremely talented class, the Jets could potentially find a difference-maker on the third day of the draft. They could even take two tight ends, depending on how the draft falls.
Other observations from Jets pre-draft visits
- The Jets met with five QBs, tied for their most visits of any position. Aside from Miami’s Cam Ward, the rest are seen as day three picks.
- Defensive line is a focus, with five defensive ends and three defensive tackles brought in for visits.
- The Jets have met with three cornerbacks; Maxwell Hairston (Kentucky) and Trey Amos (Mississippi) are projected as late first- or early second-round picks.
