It’s Pittsburgh’s problem now! Jets celebrate newfound freedom

As the Steelers wait for Aaron Rodgers to make their decision, the New York Jets should be thankful they aren't in that boat anymore.

Aaron Rodgers is no longer on the New York Jets. The circus and controversy that followed the signal-caller since he arrived two years ago has left Florham Park.

That doesn’t mean Jets fans have to be annoyed whenever the former four-time NFL MVP is brought back up.

Especially when it comes to him pulling similar antics that he did with the Jets with his potential new team, the Pittsburgh Steelers… if he even wants to become a member of the Black and Gold next season.

Steelers Unconcerned With Rodgers

The Steelers remain the only team “in” on Rodgers right now. The Minnesota Vikings have declared their support for former first-round pick J.J. McCarthy, the New York Giants couldn’t take the wait and signed Russell Wilson, and the Tennessee Titans are about to draft Cam Ward with the first overall pick.

It’s just Pittsburgh and Rodgers right now. And the longer the quarterback waits to sign, the longer it seems he doesn’t like that reality.

Despite this, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reported this past weekend that the Steelers aren’t too concerned with Rodgers’ game of chicken to this point.

They fully expect him to be on the roster this season.

“The Pittsburgh Steelers seem plenty confident that Aaron Rodgers will land there,” Breer said. “I can’t say one way or another whether it’ll happen this week (though Pat McAfee has a big event in his hometown of Pittsburgh set for Wednesday). But after being around the Steelers’ brass a little last week in Florida, they don’t seem overly stressed about it not happening.”

What does this have to do with the Jets?

As Tom Hanks’ “Doug” character from SNL would say: Not A Damn Thing!

And that’s the best part.

Jets Celebrate Freedom

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn made it clear at league meetings that he wanted the team to operate in silence this offseason. No controversial signings, no long-waiting decisions, and no retirement contemplations.

New York means business right now. And that’s precisely why Jets fans should be excited about this new regime.

“I’m just a huge believer in just moving in silence and you let things play out the way they need to play out. I think our staff has done a really good job of that just overall. Let’s just make the moves we need to make. This doesn’t need to be a big hoopla with what we’re doing,” Glenn said. “We’re just going to go about our business and coach these players and try to create an atmosphere for the players that’s totally different than what they’ve probably been used to.”

New York opened up the start of offseason activities under Glenn on Monday morning with few distractions following them around.

That’s the way it should have always been under Rodgers. Except it wasn’t.

He’s Pittsburgh’s problem now!
