With the start of the 2025 NFL draft less than two weeks away, the New York Jets continue to host prospects for visits and meetings.

According to Sportskeeda’s Tony Pauline, the Jets hosted Texas Longhorns safety Andrew Mukuba for an official top-30 visit.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and co-director of player personnel Jon Carr also attended Mukuba’s pro day.

Hailing from Lyndon B. Johnson High School in Austin, Texas, Mukuba initially committed to Clemson as a four-star recruit.

The safety spent his first three collegiate seasons as a Tiger and earned ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021. Over his three seasons at Clemson, Mukuba appeared in 35 games, accumulating 143 tackles and one interception.

Mukuba then transferred to Texas, spending his final college season as a Longhorn while making his presence felt. The former four-star recruit had 69 tackles, coupled with an impressive five interceptions.

Standing at 5-foot-11 and 186 pounds, the Harare, Zimbabwe native thrived in pass coverage for the Longhorns in 2024, earning an 89.7 coverage grade per Pro Football Focus. However, he faced immense tackling issues, missing 14.4% of his tackles (the NFL average for safeties is 10.8%).

The Texas product is an excellent athlete and consistently demonstrates explosiveness every snap. He clocked a 4.45 in the forty-yard dash (71st percentile for safeties).

Despite tendering Tony Adams and signing Andre Cisco in free agency, the Jets still lack depth at the safety position, and Mubuka could certainly provide that for Gang Green. His speed and ball skills make him an interesting target to develop at free safety behind Cisco. However, he must develop his tackling to become an NFL starter.

Ranked No. 76 overall on Mock Draft Database’s consensus big board, Mubuka could potentially be a third-round target for Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey. The Jets own the 73rd overall pick in the third round.
