After parting ways with the New York Jets, quarterback Aaron Rodgers remained silent for more than two months. But on “The Pat McAfee Show,” he finally spoke, and didn’t hold back, firing sharp criticism at the organization.
However, according to an NFL insider, some of Rodgers’ comments, particularly about his meeting with Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey, may have been exaggerated.
Appearing on “The Rich Eisen Show,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero detailed how Rodgers’ exit from the Jets unfolded, pointing out key context the quarterback conveniently left out.
“What I was told at the time was that Aaron had indicated to them, ‘Hey, I’m going to be on that side of the country in this week,’ and they said, ‘Great, come into the building,'” said Peliserro. “And there had been ongoing dialogue up until that about just a variety of different things because Aaron Glenn and him really don’t know each other.”
Rodgers, however, portrayed himself as completely blindsided, claiming he was forced to fly out from California to meet with Glenn and Mougey, stating there wasn’t “an ample amount of respect” in the meeting.
Pelissero also added that Rodgers airing a private conversation on a nationally televised show was further evidence of why New York was ready to move on.
“Aaron is on a national TV show talking about a private conversation,” Pelissero added. “That kind of is evidence of part of why the Jets just didn’t think this would be a workable situation. They wanted to start fresh in this entire thing.”
While Rodgers rehashes old wounds, Mougey and Glenn appear more than ready to move on.
