Aaron Rodgers didn’t hold back on the “Pat McAfee Show” about the New York Jets, firing multiple shots towards the organization while airing out his grievances.
It turns out he didn’t hold back with Davante Adams either.
According to The Athletic’s Michael Silver, Adams was one of the first to learn the outcome of Rodgers’ “meeting” with the Jets, and the quarterback was fuming.
“We golfed together on a Wednesday in Vegas, at Shadow Creek, and then (Rodgers) told me he was going to (meet with the Jets) on Thursday and then come back and we’d play again Friday,” Adams told Silver. “And he was just in such a bad mood (after the meeting) that he hit me up and was like, ‘I’m not coming back, bro.’ He’s like, ‘This was horrible; they just disrespected me completely.’
“I felt there wasn’t an ample amount of respect in that meeting,” Rodgers said of the Jets on Thursday. “I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised based on some things I saw over two years.”
The Jets’ decision to trade for Adams ended up being a costly misstep. After a disappointing 2-4 start to the 2024 season, New York made a high-risk move to try to turn things around, sending a 2025 third-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for the veteran wide receiver. Although Adams posted solid numbers, recording 67 catches for 854 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games, the Jets struggled with a 3-8 record throughout Adams’ tenure in the Green and White.
Less than one month after it was reported that the Jets were moving on from Rodgers, Adams was released as well. He went on to sign a two-year, $44 million deal with the Los Angeles Rams.
It’s clear that Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn are poised for a fresh start with Rodgers and Adams no longer in the picture.
