Aaron Rodgers burns final bridges in controversial career

Aaron Rodgers did himself no favors Thursday afternoon by bashing the New York Jets. It may be his last straw.

If former New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers really wanted to play for another season, the perfect opportunity to show that was Thursday afternoon.

Instead, all the four-time league MVP may have done is burn his last bridge.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show Thursday, the former Jets starting quarterback not only bashed his former team but also made it clear that he isn’t really willing to come back to the game right now.

Former Jets star burns final bridges

From Jets owner Woody Johnson to new head coach Aaron Glenn, Rodgers made it clear on Thursday that he believes things in Florham Park were far worse than many have understood.

“There’s obviously things that need to get fixed over there,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers’ new decision is far more complex than just trying to get jokes on his former team. He’s also keeping the Pittsburgh Steelers in limbo at this point while the organization decides on what to do at the quarterback position.

“Listen, this entire time I haven’t felt like I owed somebody any decision at some point,” Rodgers said. “I’ve been upfront with them about that. If you need to move on, call me, by all means…. There’s been no deadline. And yeah, I’ve talked to Mike (Tomlin) many times.”

Would any team, including Pittsburgh, want Rodgers after what he said about the Jets during Thursday’s show?

The fact that a future Hall-of-Fame quarterback essentially decided to run a tell-all interview on what happened internally in New York will be a red flag for every other team in the league.

Why would they want to bring in a quarterback who will bash them in the weeks leading up to their next game? It’s not smart or a semblance of a strong culture from anyone.

Rodgers may feel he got the last laugh against the Jets, but he may not know that he possibly burned the final bridge he was looking to make a comeback for in 2025.
