One down.

The New York Jets have knocked out one of their two highly publicized contract negotiations entering the 2025 season. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, New York has agreed to terms with wide receiver Garrett Wilson on a four-year contract extension worth $130 million, including $90 million guaranteed.

Wilson’s original rookie deal keeps him under contract through 2026. The extension kicks in for the 2027 season, putting Wilson under contract with the Jets through the 2030 season, when he will be 30 years old.

First-year Jets general manager Darren Mougey negotiated the deal with agents Jeff Nalley and Graylan Crain of CAA, according to Schefter.

Wilson’s new contract makes him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL. It places fifth at the position in total value ($130 million) and average annual value ($32.5 million), sitting one spot behind Pittsburgh’s DK Metcalf in both categories.

In terms of total guarantees, Wilson’s contract ranks fourth at the position.

Largest contracts in total guaranteed money, NFL wide receivers:

  1. Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings: $110M
  2. Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals: $109.8M
  3. CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys: $100M
  4. Garrett Wilson, New York Jets: $90M
  5. A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles: $84M

Wilson, who turns 25 this month, has played in all 51 games for the Jets since he was drafted 10th overall in 2022. He has recorded 279 receptions for 3,249 yards and 14 touchdowns, eclipsing 1,000 yards in each of his three NFL seasons.

With Wilson’s deal completed, all eyes in New York turn to the Jets’ negotiations with cornerback Sauce Gardner, who was drafted six picks ahead of Wilson in 2022.
