The New York Jets hosted a familiar face on Monday who could help address one of the team’s lingering issues from last season.

According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, free agent veteran kicker Nick Folk visited the team for a tryout.

Folk may be entering his 40s, but his production hasn’t wavered.

Over the past two seasons with the Titans, Folk led all NFL kickers with a 96.2% field goal conversion rate. He remained consistent from deep, hitting 10 of 11 attempts from 50-plus yards.

In 2024, the veteran didn’t miss a kick from long range, going six-for-six from beyond 50 yards, including a 56-yarder, his longest of the year. He connected on 21 of 22 field goal attempts overall and was perfect on extra points, finishing 25-for-25.

A pillar of consistency, Folk holds an 84.3% career field goal percentage and has topped the 92% mark in four of the last five seasons, a testament to his reliability throughout his entire career.

The former Pro Bowler is no stranger to New York, having spent seven seasons with the Jets from 2010 to 2016.

Folk would immediately bring experience and stability to a kicking competition currently headlined by two unproven options. Caden Davis, an undrafted rookie out of Ole Miss, and Harrison Mevis, who spent last season in the UFL, are the only kickers on the Jets’ 90-man roster. Neither Davis nor Mevis has ever appeared in an NFL game.

With special teams consistency an issue that single-handedly lost New York games last year, Folk’s track record and consistency make him a valuable name to sign ahead of the 2025 season.
