Entering his seventh year with the New York Jets, Quinnen Williams is taking it upon himself to become the best leader he can be.

He’s putting that into action by lifting up the young players around him.

Rookie offensive tackle Armand Membou has wasted no time making an impression in his first offseason with the Jets. Williams has taken notice, and he’s made his feelings known about the Jets’ first-round pick.

Appearing on the “Up & Adams Show” with host Kay Adams, Williams provided a long, glowing review of Membou’s start to the summer.

“I’ve gone against him a couple times. He’s extremely strong. Extremely strong. Extremely heavy. Like, he’s strong. He is extremely strong, probably one of the strongest people on the team,” Williams said of Membou.

“I’ve been watching him. Him going against Will McDonald and challenging Will to be better, because I feel like Will McDonald can be that 15 to 20 sack person in the league, so every day he come out, I want him to be that 15 to 20 sack person, because I feel like he got it in him.

“And also challenging Membou to, hey, you got to stop that guy. Like, you got to do the things that you can do to get yourself better, because you do play a bunch of good guys like Micah Parsons and T.J. Watt this year, just to name a few.”

Williams highlighted Membou’s desire to learn from his matchups with the Jets’ defensive line.

“He’s coming out working every single day, leaning on the defensive line to help him get better every day, and just working his butt off when it comes down to his technique. He’s lightyears ahead of a lot of rookie offensive linemen that I’ve played against and been around.”

The Jets used the seventh overall pick in this year’s NFL draft to select the Missouri standout. A three-year starter for the Tigers, Membou logged over 2,000 collegiate snaps and surrendered just three sacks across his entire career, including none in 2024. Pro Football Focus rated him as the third-best FBS tackle last season (90.6 overall grade).

Now penciled in as a Day 1 starter in the NFL, Membou rounds out a promising Jets offensive line that features Alijah Vera-Tucker, Joe Tippmann, John Simpson, and fellow first-rounder Olu Fashanu.

If early impressions are any indication, Membou isn’t just holding his own; he’s helping raise the standard across the line of scrimmage.
