Wednesday’s practice on a rain-soaked field marked the New York Jets’ final 2025 training camp session.

When he was hired as the team’s head coach in January, Aaron Glenn announced his vision to build a physical, tough, and smart team. Throughout camp, the Jets showed they are well on their way to fulfilling that promise.

Plenty of players stood out over the last month of work for New York. After Wednesday’s practice, though, it’s time to break down which players were consistently great throughout training camp.

Jets training camp standouts

As with every standout, a positive camp doesn’t necessarily translate into a New York Jets roster spot. Many outliers and essential factors for each position are of greater importance.

That said, a good number of players earned roster spots because of their work over the last month.

UDFA wideouts

  • Quentin Skinner
  • Brandon Smith
  • Jamaal Pritchett

Those are the three UDFA wide receivers who not only played well but also performed so admirably in camp that any of the trio has a clear path to the 53-man roster.

Skinner has used his trademark speed to make multiple big plays throughout the last month. Smith has used his big body to get open consistently. He has been as sure-handed as any receiver on the team.

Pritchett, meanwhile, has been the receiver who finds himself open on most routes during camp.

All three players deserve to have their names picked as part of the 53-man roster. Obviously, that will not be the case.

All that means at this point, though, is that one of these players will get picked up by another team on the waiver wire very soon.

Jay Tufele

No player can have a perfect camp, but Jay Tufele came close. The free agent signing was dominant throughout practices in camp, was unblockable in joint work, and was one of the team’s best players in the preseason.

Some analysts wondered whether or not Tufele would make the team at the beginning of camp. That isn’t a question anymore.

Now, the focus for Tufele revolves around how much playing time he will actually get next to Quinnen Williams. That is how good he has been over the last month.

Olu Fashanu

New York’s offensive line looked pretty good throughout training camp, but the group’s best player was clearly Olu Fashanu. The 11th overall pick from 2024 has been a stalwart in joint practices, looked great in team drills, and even held his own during preseason action.

If he’s able to turn this strong camp into results in the regular season, the Jets have a Pro Bowl tackle on their roster.

Brandon Stephens

During OTAs, many wondered if Stephens would be replaced during the regular season by third-round rookie AZ Thomas.

That isn’t happening anymore.

Brandon Stephens was fantastic throughout camp. He wasn’t perfect, as no corner is, but he battled against Garrett Wilson a ton, and looked like a quality starting corner worthy of the long-term contract he received back in March.

The last month has been huge for Stephens.

Braelon Allen

It is not an overreaction to say that Braelon Allen outplayed Breece Hall during camp. His physical nature and ability to bounce off would-be tackles made him a welcome sight for the Jets’ running game.

Allen is in line for a big year in 2025. If his work in camp is any indication, he may just end the season as New York’s top back.
