The New York Jets have about 48 hours to trim their training camp roster. This means Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey know they have their work cut out for them at this point.
That’s why they have started early.
New York waived six players from its 90-man training camp roster Saturday afternoon as part of its sweeping cuts to bring the roster to the required 53 by the NFL.
Jets cut 6 players
The following six players were released by the Jets on Saturday:
- CB Mario Goodrich
- T Samuel Jackson
- TE Neal Johnson
- WR Dymere Miller
- DT Fatorma Mullbah
- WR Ontaria “Pokey” Wilson
None of the releases is surprising.
Samuel Jacksonโnot to be confused with that of Pulp Fiction fameโstruggled in the final preseason game.
Dymere Miller and Pokey Wilson had nice moments in camp, but never seemed close to getting on the 53. The same can be said for Goodrich, Johnson, and Mullbah.
As things stand, the Jets currently have 83 players after trading defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi to the Kansas City Chiefs.
They must cut another 30 by Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 4:00 p.m. EDT. How the New York Jets’ 53-man roster shakes out is still a hot topic of debate.
