More details have emerged from the Indianapolis incident that left former New York Jets first-round pick Mark Sanchez hospitalized with stab wounds.

Hours after the news broke of Sanchez’s hospitalization, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department released a statement in which they said that Sanchez was arrested for his role in the incident.

“After further investigation and following consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, IMPD arrested 38-year-old Mark Sanchez for his alleged role in this incident. Sanchez was arrested at the hospital for battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication, all [of] which are misdemeanors. All involved parties have been identified, and no further individuals are being sought by detectives.

“Sanchez is still in the hospital and has not been booked into the Adult Detention Center.”

FOX59’s Angela Ganote reported details from the police narrative of the incident.

According to the police narrative received by FOX59 from sources, Sanchez did not cooperate with police when they first arrived on the scene.

Another man, listed as the victim in the report, told police he was delivering food when Sanchez told him he needed to move his vehicle and could not park in his current spot. The man told police that Sanchez started threatening him and following him before Sanchez attacked him.

The man said he unsuccessfully attempted to pepper spray Sanchez before deciding to defend himself with a knife. This man emerged from the altercation with a “significant injury” to his face.

Sanchez has yet to be interviewed.
