After getting punched in the mouth by the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football, the New York Jets suddenly found themselves with a long runway, 10 full days, to reset, regroup, and brace for Lamar Jackson and the 5-5 Baltimore Ravens.

Those 10 days didnโ€™t exactly pass quietly.

Head coach Aaron Glenn put the NFL on notice when he confirmed he was benching the struggling Justin Fields and handing the offense to veteran Tyrod Taylor.

Overall, the fanbase is split straight down the middle: some want the Jets to embrace the tank, others beg for competence, and Glenn? Glenn is simply trying to win football games. Today in Charm City is another shot at exactly that.

However, it wonโ€™t be easy. When the Ravens are at their best, they look every bit as dangerous as the leagueโ€™s elite, and facing them on their home turf is its own assignment. But this is the reality of where the Jets are: a new name under center, a divided fanbase, and a coaching staff refusing to mail it in, no matter how ugly their record gets.

Soโ€ฆ the first game of the Tyrod Taylor era? Sure, why not? Itโ€™s officially a thing now.

Here are the Jetsโ€™ inactive players for this afternoonโ€™s matchup in Baltimore and game one of the “Tyrod Taylor era”.

Jets Inactive List vs. Ravens

  • WR Tyler Johnson
  • RB Khalil Herbert
  • DL Mazi Smith
  • TE Jelani Woods
  • DE Tyler Baron

Despite entering the weekend listed as questionable, the Jets will have all hands on deck in Baltimore. Special-teams ace Kene Nwangwu, edge rusher Will McDonald, defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, and linebacker/special teamer Marcelino McCrary-Ball are all active for todayโ€™s matchup.

The five Jets who wonโ€™t suit up are all healthy scratches. Jelani Woods, Tyler Baron, and Khalil Herbert fall into the โ€œno-surpriseโ€ category. Tyler Johnson, however, is a bit harder to explain. Heโ€™s been inactive before, but with New Yorkโ€™s wide receiver room struggling to find any rhythm, Johnson had quietly carved out a steady mid-depth-chart role. Sitting him today raises an eyebrow or two.

Up front, Mazi Smith will be the odd man out. After the Jets signed veteran defensive tackle Khalen Saunders earlier this week, Smith, acquired in the Quinnen Williams trade, finds himself squeezed out of the rotation for now.
