In the New York Jetsโ€™ 23-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Breece Hallโ€™s fourth-quarter fumble came at the worst possible time, ending a promising drive and shutting the door on New Yorkโ€™s last chance at a comeback.

Speaking to reporters following Sunday’s clash, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn addressed Hall’s costly mistake.

“He [Hall] is my guy,” said Glenn. “Sh** happens. You donโ€™t want it to happen, but it does.”

Hall bounced a run to the outside and stretched for the goal line, but the ball was punched out as he reached for extra yards. Baltimore recovered with under seven minutes left, effectively ending the Jetsโ€™ chances of mounting a late comeback in their 23-10 loss.

Ultimately, the mistake will overshadow what had been one of Hallโ€™s brighter outings of the season, a 119-yard all-purpose performance that included 75 receiving yards on four catches.

“It stung,” Hall himself said of the fumble. “You never want to fumble. At the end of the day, my mom has always taught me, there’s going to be ups and downs, but never let them see you sweat. Hold your head high, keep coming back and getting better.”

Hallโ€™s turnover will linger, but it wasnโ€™t the only thing that defined the day. The Jets opened with real signs of life, then spent the rest of the afternoon letting opportunities slip away.

A promising start turned into another game they couldnโ€™t finish, a theme that has followed them far longer than one fumble or one drive in Baltimore.
