After each win, former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan would boastfully create catch-phrases and rallying cries that the team could connect with.

Over a decade since his last game as the Jets’ head coach, a new leader is creating his own catch phrase after each win.

And much like Ryan’s days with the organization, that cry is something the locker room has completely bought into. It might just be the phrase that galvanizes the organization to become a contender.

Jets’ rallying cry

New York has won three of their last five games. After each of those victories, Glenn has been recorded entering the locker room with a celebratory yell, stating, “Who wants to fly with them [expletive] New York Jets?”

The locker room loves it every time.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Glenn explained the origin of his saying and why he isn’t going to alter his postgame antics anytime soon.

“I didn’t realize it was a thing,” Glenn said. “I just felt like saying something and that came out. That should be a thing, huh? That’s not bad. I like it.”

There are numerous coaches in NFL history who have employed specific sayings to try to unite their teams. In New England, Bill Belichick’s “Do Your Job” saying was the focal comment of the Patriots’ dynasty of the 2000s and 2010s.

One of Glenn’s mentors, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell, began his coaching career with a memorable comparison to “biting kneecaps.”

If Glenn can continue to turn around the Jets franchise, his rallying cry will be more than a way to excite his locker room. It’ll be the primary phrase to energize the entire fanbase moving forward.
