In their final home game of the season, the New York Jets got embarrassed, falling 42-10 to the New England Patriots.
It marked New York’s fourth consecutive loss, all of which came by three or more scores.
Despite their persistent struggles all season long and these past few weeks in particular, head coach Aaron Glenn continued to push the narrative that his team was playing hard through the final whistle each and every single week.
However, in his eyes, that changed on Sunday when his squad was demolished by Drake Maye and the Patriots.
“I always talk about how we come out and play with effort,” Glenn told reporters following the beatdown. “Today was the one time I felt our effort wasn’t as good as it wanted to be.”
The Jets were outmatched right from the opening kick through the final whistle. New England scored touchdowns on all six of their opening possessions and headed into halftime with a 35-3 lead over Gang Green.
“It’s unacceptable,” Jets wide receiver and returner Isaiah Williams told SNY’s Jeane Coakley after Sunday’s loss. “As a man, as a team, that’s not something you want to go put on display.”
Despite Glenn insisting New York’s effort wasn’t there against Mike Vrabel’s squad, Jets defensive end Jermaine Johnson still believes everyone is bought in and continuing to give it their all each week.
“I think the character of these guys, everybody is bought in and has been giving their all,” said the FSU product.
Now 3-13, the Jets’ nightmarish 2025 season will close out next Sunday in Buffalo as they face the Bills.
