The New York Jets are slated to enter a pivotal offseason with several key decisions ahead.
The question now is what type of approach Gang Green will take as the organization looks to elevate its roster following year one of the Darren Mougey-Aaron Glenn regime.
“I think everyone wants to be aggressive, but calculated in how they attack offseasons,” said Jets general manager Darren Mougey on Tuesday. “Whether that’s free agency and the draft, and just knowing your team, knowing your division, and what you need. You can say it’s an aggressive approach, but it really needs to be a very calculated approach, knowing your resources, your draft resources, your cap, your future cap, and what that might look like. So yeah, we’re always going to look to add.”
The Jets have holes at nearly every single position across their roster as Mougey and Glenn head back to the drawing board following a nightmarish 3-14 debut season in New York.
The good news? The Jets have over $90 million in cap space to work with, among the highest totals in the NFL. Even more enticing is their amount of draft capital, owning two first-round picks in this year’s draft and four selections within the top 45. No team has a more valuable collection of picks in the 2026 draft.
With a significant amount of spending power and premium draft capital, the Jets have the flexibility to quickly reshape their roster. How effectively Mougey and Glenn allocate those resources will define the future of the franchise and their legacies in the Big Apple.
