No fanbase panics quite like New York Jets fans.

In their defense, it has been hard not to with what they have seen from their team. On that front, it makes sense.

For 15 years, the Jets have struggled to field a competent team. Their 3-14 season in 2025 may have been rock-bottom for the franchise, as wild as the last 15 years would have led anyone to believe.

Now, it doesn’t matter what the team does anymore; the fanbase is out for blood. They want drastic changes across the board because the status quo failed spectacularly this past season.

Because of that, they have turned early offseason goals, like the coaching staff-hiring process, into be-all-end-alls for the Jets โ€” whether that mentality is justified or not.

While it’s understandable, New York Jets fans might be better served to step back, calm down, and evaluate what Aaron Glenn is trying to accomplish. At the very least, that might be the more prudent strategy at this very moment (for now).

The most consistent complaint Jets fans have regarding the organization right now is how the team is handling the coach review process.

Originally, the team and head coach Aaron Glenn wanted to bring in the best staff around the league. That was one of his calling cards when he was first hired back in January of 2025, as described by The 33rd Team’s Mike Tannenbaum, who spearheaded the coaching search process.

After a dismal season, over half the coaching staff was fired. They even waited longer than anticipated to make those decisions.

All anyone can talk about is how the Jets have bungled the coaching process. Their original defensive plan took a detour when Glenn assumed play-calling duties (per reports) after Brian Duker was hired as defensive coordinator.

On offense, the decision to part ways with offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand left some fans perplexed. The potential hire of an experienced yet failed play-caller in Frank Reich isn’t exactly instilling confidence, either.

The process that got the Jets to this point at the end of January has lacked clarity for the fanbase. Remember, this is the same fanbase that was told they would be “proud” of their team at some point in the 2025 season, only to see those same comments walked back during the season.

There is a reason why the fanbase is so upset.

While everyone has the right to be pissed, there’s also an honest assessment most can make about the team right now.

A long offseason ahead

As difficult a process as this has been for the Jets and their fans, the end result may turn out to be better than anyone could have predicted.

Fans wanted experienced coaching on the offensive side of the ball. It may have taken a year, but they have been given exactly that.

They also wanted improved coaching on defense. It may turn out to be a positive thing that Glenn, who was an objectively successful defensive play-caller in Detroit, takes the reins of the unit.

More importantly, though, Gang Green has a long offseason ahead. They have over $90 million in cap space and four draft picks within the first 50 overall selections in April.

The roster will look much different by the time we hit August.

Will that different look result in better results? Time will tell.

Either way, Jets fans need to take a step back, go for a walk, or do something else with their time instead of going nonstop crazy regarding the team’s coaching process. If the team brings in the right people, the organization will improve, and everyone’s anger over this month will look ridiculous.

If it blows up in the team’s face, then the Jets are going to be looking for a new coaching staff anyway the following year.

Either way, none of that is happening now.
