The New York Jets have landed their developmental quarterback for the 2026 season, selecting Clemson’s Cade Klubnik with the 110th overall pick on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters after being selected, Klubnik expressed his excitement about being chosen by Gang Green.
“I’m excited to go be a Jet,” he said. “And (I’m) pumped and really thankful for this opportunity. It’s been a few days for sure, but I’m excited to go to work.”
To secure the quarterback, the Jets traded up, sending away two fourth-round selections this year (Nos. 128 and 140) and acquiring a sixth-round pick in exchange for the selection used to land Klubnik.
“It means a lot,” Klubnik said of the Jets trading up to land him. “I don’t really know what else to say. It means a lot to me. It shows their interest in me, and I was really hoping for this. I kind of woke up this morning thinking, I hope the Jets pick me. So, I had a feeling they were going to pick me at least.”
In 2024, Klubnik was dominant with Clemson, leading the Tigers to a 10-4 record while completing 63.4% of his passes for 3,639 yards, 36 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
If he had decided to declare for last year’s draft, he most likely would have been selected way higher than the fourth round. During the 2025 season, he struggled to reach the heights he had reached the year prior, steering Clemson to a 7-5 record while completing 65.6% of his passing attempts for 2,943 yards, 16 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
For the Jets, his athletic ability and upside were worthy of a Day 3 dart throw.
