Aaron Glenn made a statement when he announced that the New York Jets’ starters would play in the preseason opener.

โ€œEvery game matters. We want to win.โ€

And the players backed up his words.

With Green Bay also playing its starters, the Jets’ starting offense and defense were dominant over their short time on the field. The offense scored a touchdown on its lone drive, while the defense forced two punts.

The key to both units’ success? The trenches.

New York methodically marched down the field with positive gains on the ground and well-protected dropbacks in the passing game. Defensively, the Jets applied heavy pressure on Jordan Love, even without Quinnen Williams, Jermaine Johnson, or Byron Cowart on the field.

Throughout the remainder of the game, the Jets’ backups kept things going. The second and third-string offensive and defensive lines continued to stomp on the gas pedal, leading more scoring drives and keeping the Packers’ offense in check for most of the night.

While it’s only a preseason game, you could feel a brand-new mentality in the Jets’ brand of football. In addition, there were subtle details of the Jets’ execution that pointed to changes in how the players are being coached.

We’re here to break down all of those little details that you might have missed during your first viewing.

In the latest episode of Blewett’s Blitz, we analyze everything that stood out from the Jets’ preseason-opening victory. The top standouts, the players whose stock dropped, scheme changes, new coaching points – it’s all there on the All-22 film.

Let’s dive into the film to see where the Jets stand after Week 1 of the preseason.
