We’re just a few hours from the start of the Snoopy Bowl, the annual preseason contest between the New York Jets and New York Giants.
Unlike many preseason contests, both teams are expected to play their starters throughout the game, although it is unclear for how long.
Before opening kickoff from MetLife Stadium, the Jets announced nine players will not be suiting up for the Week 2 showdown.
Let’s get to the full list here:
New York Jets Preseason “Inactives”
In New York’s preseason opening win in Green Bay, 11 players did not participate. The number for this week is down to nine, with just three projected starters on defense expected to miss time.
The entire list is below:
- Kris Boyd
- Byron Cowart
- Isaiah Davis
- Jermaine Johnson
- Allen Lazard
- Francisco Mauigoa
- Tyrod Taylor
- Azareye’h Thomas
- Quinnen Williams
The big name of note that isn’t included is All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner. The top player in New York’s secondary missed Wednesday’s practice with calf soreness, but appears healthy enough to give it a go on Saturday night.
Quinnen Williams, Byron Cowart, and Jermaine Johnson are the three projected starters on defense who will miss the game.
The Jets will have a full cast of starters for on offense against their cross-town rivals. That means left guard John Simpson is expected to make his first appearance of 2025 after missing last weekend’s opener. However, running back Isaiah Davis will sit out.
Aaron Glenn already announced that backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor will miss the rest of the preseason, which means Brady Cook and Adrian Martinez will receive plenty of work.
Kickoff from MetLife Stadium is set for 7:04pm.
