Twenty-five days remain until the 2025 NFL trade deadline. With the New York Jets circling the drain at 0-5, trade rumors have begun to swirl around New York’s appealing young players.

One of the most commonly mentioned names on the NFL trade circuit is Breece Hall, New York’s fourth-year running back. Speaking to British reporters in London ahead of Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos, Hall made a statement regarding the latest trade rumors.

“This is probably my fifth month dealing with [the trade rumors] now. At this point, it is what it is. I’m here, I want to be here. I love being a New York Jet and everything, but at the end of the day, I don’t control what goes on. I only control what I do on the field and how I handle my business off the field.

“For me, it’s all about, like I said, servicing my teammates and coaches the best way I can, and letting God handle whatever else. Every day I come out, I’m servicing my teammates and coaches, glorifying God, and whatever happens, happens after that.”

Hall is in the fourth and final year of his rookie contract with the Jets. He is due to become an unrestricted free agent after the season.

As recently as a few weeks ago, Hall seemed like a plausible trade candidate for New York, but with the Jets recently losing their No. 2 running back, Braelon Allen, to a knee injury that will sideline him for at least eight weeks, it is difficult to imagine New York dealing its starting running back.

Hall is backed up on the Jets’ depth chart by Isaiah Davis, Kene Nwangwu, and Khalil Herbert. Davis is a promising second-year player, but has yet to start an NFL game. Nwangwu is on the roster for his kick return skills, while Herbert was just recently signed off Seattle’s practice squad.

As the first-year head coach and general manager pairing of Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey looks to shake off a historically bad start, it is unlikely that the duo would be eager to dump Hall and leave an already struggling offense down to fringe-level talent at the position.

Going into Sunday’s game against the elite Denver Broncos defense, Hall hopes to build on a start to the season that has been promising despite some blemishes.

On the positive side, Hall is averaging 5.3 yards per rush attempt, easily his best mark since his electric 2022 rookie season. Hall is also averaging a career-high 70.2 rushing yards per game. Add in his 30 receiving yards per game, and Hall is producing a sparkling 100.2 scrimmage yards per game.

However, Hall has yet to score a touchdown, and he lost a critical fumble in the first half of New York’s loss to Dallas last week. The home-run threat is also still looking for his first 25+ yard rush of the season.

There is no better time for Hall to score his first touchdown of the season than this Sunday. The Jets will need as many points as they can get against a Denver defense ranked second-best in the NFL with just 16.8 points allowed per game.
