This past offseason, the New York Jets officially (and obviously) cut ties with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, a move that was viewed as highly polarizing within the team’s fanbase.

However, Jets owner Woody Johnson does not regret the decision, despite Rodgers being able to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 4-2 start this season, while New York holds an abysmal 0-7 record with lackluster quarterback play.

โ€œI never look back,โ€ Johnson said Tuesday afternoon at the fall NFL owners meetings in Midtown Manhattan (video provided by Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein). โ€œYou have to look forward in football. Even when you cut players, they could be Hall of Famers. You never know. Aaron is playing great now. Heโ€™s in a situation thatโ€™s working for him.โ€

Through six games of Pittsburghโ€™s 4-2 start, Rodgers has thrown for 1,270 yards, ranking 25th among starting quarterbacks. He also ranks fourth in touchdown passes (14) and seventh in completion percentage at 69%.

On the Jets’ side of things, through seven weeks, the quarterback position has been an unmitigated disaster.

After a stellar Week 1 debut against Pittsburgh in the Green and White, Justin Fields has been terrible for the Jets.

He ranks 21st in completion percentage (63.7%), dead-last among starters in passing yards (845), and last in touchdowns (4).

The Ohio State product has also pushed the offense back significantly this season, enduring the second-most sacks (22) and having the third-longest time to throw (3.13).

Johnson made it clear heโ€™s done dwelling on what might have been, and his focus now is on fixing whatโ€™s gone wrong in New York.
