NY Jets breakdown: How Glenn, Reich coached to victory in Nashville

Almost everything went right for the New York Jets in their season opener.

Efficient, mostly mistake-free offense? Check.

Physical, fundamentally sound defense? Check.

A special teams unit that picked up where it left off? Check.

Jets fans could have hardly asked for more from Aaron Glenn’s revamped squad. An overhauled coaching staff and upgraded roster combined to produce the improved results that fans have been looking for.

Offensively, Geno Smith led an efficient passing game, while the offensive line anchored a run game that moved the ball at will.

Defensively, Glenn’s blitz packages got home on Cam Ward, while the back-end coverage kept the Titans’ wide receviers in check.

There was plenty to like from New York throughout the game. Even so, the Jets left meat on the bone. Multiple offensive drives stalled in opponent territory due to self-inflicted errors, while the defense admittedly benefited from some unforced mistakes by the Titans’ offense.

All in all, though, the Jets looked like a professional football team, which reflects positively on the staff.
