The NFL finally returned this week, and the league was joined by its fans across the world, both respectful and otherwise.
Some of the latter are known for their presence behind the end zone at Nissan Stadium, where the New York Jets defeated the Tennessee Titans in their season opener.
The hecklers known on social media as “EndZoneBoyZ” were in their usual spot behind the end zone, giving the opposing team an earful as they do at every home game. After heckling Jets running back Braelon Allen for several minutes during pre-game warmups, the fans moved on to Breece Hall.
Hall only had one thing to say in response.
“Talk all you want, I’m just gonna take it out on them [The Titans].”
And that he did. Hall rumbled for 118 rushing yards and one touchdown on 22 attempts. Allen added 40 rushing yards, and he would’ve also had a 40-yard touchdown run if not for a Josh Myers holding penalty.
Hall wasn’t done chirping with the hecklers after the victory. He celebrated the win by commenting “Belt 2 A$$” on the video post.
Jets fans took over Nissan Stadium, breaking out into loud “J-E-T-S” chants that could be heard on the broadcast throughout the game. While Titans fans left early in the second half, they already seemed to play their part, giving the Jets some extra motivation before the game.
Second-year offensive tackle Armand Membou also went at it with the end zone fans, giving them an earful following the Jets’ opening drive touchdown. Former Titans cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. also stopped by during warmups to say hello to one for his former supporters.
Few players exceeded expectations more than Brownlee did on Sunday. In coverage, he allowed only two of four targets to be caught for a mere eight yards.
The Jets will have a much friendlier reception this week as they return to New Jersey for their home opener, as they hope for a repeat performance against the Green Bay Packers. After rewarding fans with a dominant season opener, Sunday should be packed despite the rainy forecast.
