It’s almost Halloween, and New York Jets fans know what that means.

No, silly, it isn’t time to start mapping out the path to a wild card spot. Those are trivial matters for franchises interested in that “winning” nonsense.

Rather, it’s time to make mock-draft simulations a daily time-killing ritual.

With three first-round picks in the 2027 NFL draft, the Jets have one of the NFL’s brightest futures from an asset standpoint. Whether their decision-makers can maximize those assets is another story, but for fans, it offers light at the end of the tunnel after the team lost at home to an openly-tanking division rival that had not held a lead over its first five games.

After Week 7’s Sunday results, the Jets’ treasure chest of draft picks is starting to look like something out of a Madden Franchise Mode simulation. Here is how the top 12 slots of the 2027 NFL draft are currently shaping up:

  1. Los Angeles Chargers (0-6, .530 SOS)
  2. Tennessee Titans (1-6, .473 SOS)
  3. Miami Dolphins (1-5, .589 SOS)
  4. Washington Commanders (1-4-1, .482 SOS)
  5. Houston Texans (2-5, .459 SOS)
  6. New York Jets, via Indianapolis (2-5, .491 SOS)
  7. Arizona Cardinals (2-5, .504 SOS)
  8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-5, .518 SOS)
  9. New York Jets (2-5, .541 SOS)
  10. New Orleans Saints (2-5, .548 SOS)
  11. New York Jets, via Dallas (2-4, .439 SOS)
  12. Philadelphia Eagles (2-4, .469 SOS)

The reviewed October 24 projection has NYJ at Nos. 6, 9 and 13. The order changes with results. Each widget starts independently with all nine projected 2027 picks; votes do not carry between scenarios.

Choose one of four available prospects, add capital by moving down, or package picks to move up for the named target. The four prospects are assumed available here; the full simulator varies its board and team choices. Trade packages use the reviewed ownership and point chart, but real negotiations are not guaranteed.

Current published boards have moved Mestemaker and Carr up while Manning has slipped. These are projections, not a guarantee of NFL performance or a playerโ€™s decision to enter the draft. Pick trades are available in the Offseason Simulator.

The Jets own three of the top 11 picks, slotted at sixth (via Indianapolis), ninth (own), and 11th (via Dallas).

In 24 hours, the picture could look even prettier. If the Dallas Cowboys lose in Philadelphia on Monday Night Football, their choice will skyrocket to the No. 5 slot, as Dallas currently owns the weakest strength-of-schedule among teams with a losing record. Even if the Cowboys win, their pick will stay up at No. 13, dropping just two slots.

Whether Jets fans have confidence in their team’s brass maximizing those choices is up in the air, but the resources to facilitate an overnight turnaround in 2027 will most certainly be there. It’s up to the franchise’s ownership to determine if they want head coach Aaron Glenn to oversee an offseason in which three first-round picks will be spent.
