Braelon Allen sets up Jets’ first TD

The New York Jets are officially on the board in 2024, and it all began with one of the newcomers.

Rookie running back Braelon Allen ran wild in the second quarter of the Jets’ first preseason game against the Washington Commanders.

Allen, 20, currently has 54 yards on just nine carries—with the first half winding down of a 7-7 ball game. Forty-five of those yards came on just three carries on the Jets’ third drive of the game, which ended in a touchdown.

Fellow rookie running back Isaiah Davis also chipped in on the drive, snagging this reception for 24 yards on a crucial third and 11:

Quarterback Andrew Peasley found Jason Brownlee in the back of the end zone for the touchdown—a confident throw on a fade that featured a clear one-on-one situation:

It was a great throw and catch from the duo; Peasley had the perfect placement on the pass, while Brownlee got both feet down in a smooth fashion.

For New York, it is hopefully the first of many positive drives for Brownlee, Davis, and Allen in 2024. All three players, in their own ways, will likely play a role in helping the team win this season.

Olu Fashanu starts, is tagged for a false start

Elsewhere, first-round selection Olu Fashanu received the start at left tackle, protecting Tyrod Taylor’s blindside. Unfortunately, the Penn State product was tagged for a false start penalty early in the game.

Fellow rookie Malachi Corley has showcased a fearless attitude on the field—particularly when fielding punts. Corley currently has two receptions for modest yardage.
