The New York Jets are reportedly interested in defensive end Trey Hendrickson, the New Orleans Saints edge who busted out in 2020.

Joe Douglas and the New York Jets are extremely aware of the depth-chart holes needing attention. One such hole is at edge, 4-3 defensive end in Robert Saleh’s defense.

A man who’s coming off a career season could be a perfect player to help fill the void.

The Jets have “shown interest” in defensive end Trey Hendrickson, along with the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns, according to Josina Anderson.

Hendrickson, 26, really took his game to the next level in 2020 after several average campaigns. He finished with 13.5 sacks, 25 quarterback hits, 12 tackles for loss and 25 total tackles in 15 games for Seah Payton’s squad last year.

Henrickson’s previous single-season sack high was 4.5 (2019). In fact, the Florida Atlantic product had trouble staying on the field over the course of his first three seasons, missing 18 games in total.

Per Pro Football Focus, Hendrickson graded out as the 28th edge defender in football this past season. His 77.0 pass-rush grade placed him 17th while his 53.9 run-defense grade left a lot to be desired.

With Shaq Barrett already re-signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and rumors flying around several other players, the edge-rush market is moving quickly.
