Blewett’s Blitz live reacts to the New York Jets’ trade that sends Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers and previews the 2021 NFL draft.
The deed is done. Sam Darnold is now one of the Carolina Panthers’ quarterbacks, which officially reunites him with wide receiver Robby Anderson.
Joe Douglas and the New York Jets sent the USC product to the Panthers Monday afternoon for a surprisingly good haul. In return comes a 2021 sixth-round pick, 2022 second-round selection and 2022 fourth-rounder, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Obviously, this news points to one avenue: a certain BYU quarterback.
The entire football world would be shocked if the Jets don’t select Zach Wilson second overall in the 2021 NFL draft. Not only do most of the draft experts have the kid mocked in the two-hole, but this Darnold news all but confirms it.
Blewett’s Blitz live discusses the recent news at 6 p.m. ET (video stream above). Is Wilson the correct avenue to take? Will Darnold succeed in Carolina under Matt Rhule and Joe Brady?
Additionally, Joe Blewett and Kyle Smith will dig into the Jets’ free agency moves as well as preview the 2021 NFL draft.
