Elijah Moore’s former Ole Miss teammate, A.J. Brown, credits the New York Jets rookie with helping through a dark moment in his life.
In 2018, A.J. Brown and Elijah Moore were teammates at Ole Miss. Brown, a junior at the time, quickly built a strong bond with the younger Moore.
Brown declared for the 2019 NFL draft and was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the 51st overall pick. Moore stuck around in Mississippi for two more seasons, eventually earning his spot in the NFL as well.
This past Friday, Brown posted a video on Instagram (now deleted) that explained just how instrumental the New York Jets rookie wide receiver was in helping through a dark moment in his life, as first reported by The Nashville Tennessean.
Brown explained the meaning of the post, talking about the dark times he has endured in the past.
“It was a dark moment,” said Brown. “It was a year ago, where I had thought about taking my life. It was special to me because it just came over my heart that I wanted to share with others and help others.
“I just wanted to encourage everyone to seek help if you’re down and you’re depressed, and just try to get help,” said Brown.
When asked who was there for him during these times, Brown responded, “It was Elijah Moore.”
“He’s more than family. I love him like he’s my brother. He is my brother. He’s a special person and I appreciate him each and every day.”
Evidently, the two have built a very special bond.
Brown and Moore continue to spend a lot of time together despite the distance between New York and Tennessee. Brown was with Moore when he got drafted and videos of the two working out together over the offseason surfaced as well.

On his bond with Moore, Brown said, “I lived with him. He’s seen my struggles, I’ve seen his struggles. I know what he wants to accomplish, he knows what I want to accomplish. In life. Period. This is not just football talk, this is life talk.”
Brown’s most recent Instagram post touches on the development process human beings often experience.
“I’m only a seed in the hands of the almighty. God waters me when he needs me and wants me to grow. I’m in the developing process and it’s a beautiful thing. Sometimes I feel like I’m at a standstill but in reality I’m still growing. I may be moving at a slower pace than others but it’s my pace. I will continue to grow because everything God created is beautiful.”
