Fantasy football Week 13 waiver wire pickups: It’s Chuba Hubbard time

Fantasy football Week 12 saw starting running backs drop like flies

Navigating the waiver wire is incredibly important to fantasy football success. Each week, Jets X-Factor dives into the waiver wire for the must-adds to your fantasy football team.

With so many injuries to running backs, there’s plenty of fresh faces to be seen here. Let’s get started.

All roster percentages are from Yahoo Sports.

Quarterback

Taysom Hill (6% Rostered)

It took much longer than expected, but Taysom Hill was finally named the starter for the New Orleans Saints. Hill provides a great dual-threat dynamic and should help propel teams into the playoffs.

Running Back

Jamaal Williams (41% Rostered)

D’Andre Swift won’t suit up for the Lions in Week 13, which means Jamaal Williams gets his turn to be the primary ball carrier for the team.

They face a Minnesota defense that has allowed plenty of points in the last few weeks, so he should be a viable Flex option, at worst.

Alexander Mattison (52% Rostered)

Dalvin Cook will miss at least two weeks with a shoulder injury. In steps Alexander Mattison, his longtime backup.

Mattison has done well this season when asked to replace Cook and gets a great matchup against the winless Lions in Week 13. He’s a must-add in all formats.

Chuba Hubbard (40% Rostered)

Christian McCaffrey was placed on the injured reserve, ending his season. We’ve seen what Hubbard can do in limited action earlier in the year when McCaffrey was out.

The running game will now run through Hubbard. He’s another must-add in all formats.

Matt Breida (23% Rostered)

With Zack Moss a healthy scratch in Week 12, it was Breida who shared time with Singletary in the backfield.

His numbers won’t wow you, but he did manage a touchdown and his usage has been fairly consistent. He’s a decent flex option in deeper leagues.

Wide Receiver

Van Jefferson (49% Rostered)

After Robert Woods’s season-ending injury, it’s surprising to see Jefferson rostered in such little fantasy football leagues. He’s had a consistent floor, with no less than six targets in his last five games.

Jefferson should be rostered in all formats as the Rams look to continue their pass-heavy ways.

Kendrick Bourne (24% Rostered)

Kendrick Bourne either seems to disappear or completely go off – with no in-between.

He’s filled the slot receiver role in New England nicely. While he may be more of a boom-bust option, if you’re hurting at wide receiver he could be a good potential Flex addition.

DeSean Jackson (5% Rostered)

It looks like DeSean Jackson is beating father time. The soon-to-be 35-year old broke 100 yards against the Cowboys in Week 12 and has a great matchup against Washington this week.

Derek Carr loves to throw the ball deep, and there’s a chance Jackson remains relevant throughout the rest of the season.

Josh Reynolds (1% Rostered)

Josh Reynolds reunited with Jared Goff and the connection was instant, as the former caught a touchdown pass in his first game with the Lions. With the team bereft of wide receiver talent, look to him to have Flex appeal going forward.

Tight End

Foster Moreau (1% Rostered)

With Darren Waller out for this week, Moreau steps in his place. The last time Moreau got playing time due to a Waller injury he scored, and that could be likely yet again.

Jack Doyle (1% Rostered)

Since Week 7, Jack Doyle has been a TE1 in fantasy football. Carson Wentz loves his tight ends, and we’re seeing that development occur again in Indianapolis.

He may not be the most consistent player, but he’s worth an add if you’re in trouble at the position.
