The New York Jets have added a little “Sauce” to the secondary with Ahmad Gardner.
The New York Jets added flavor to a defense in desperate need of reinforcements with their first activity of the 2022 NFL draft, using their opening pick (No. 4 overall) to select former University of Cincinnati cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner.

A Detroit native and early draft entrant, Gardner was one of the most sought-after defensive talents of this year’s draft class.
He gained major fame for his ability to limit to big plays, allowing his targets less than seven yards per reception—if the ball even made it there in the first place.
Gardner, lauded for his length and skills in man coverage, developed a reputation as a physical defender, latching onto routes and staying out of penalty trouble.
He stole nine interceptions over three seasons as a Bearcat and earned the American Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year Award en route to consensus All-American honors.
