The New York Jets’ offensive weapons make more noise in a lighter day of practice with the Atlanta Falcons

The New York Jets held their second and final joint practice with the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday. It was a lighter day of practice in comparison to Friday’s proceedings, spanning a shorter length and featuring no pads.

The Jets appeared to be the better team on Friday, and it seems that New York’s momentum carried into the weekend.

New York’s offense had another eventful day. Joe Flacco, the team’s temporary QB1, continues to impress, while many players at the skill positions are standing out.

Flacco hooked up with Elijah Moore for a 5-yard touchdown pass after Moore beat the coverage of star cornerback A.J. Terrell on a crossing route. Two angles of the play can be seen below.

Flacco connects with Corey Davis on a corner route. Davis releases outside, gives an inside fake, and then breaks off his inside foot into the corner route, gaining separation. Flacco’s throw is slightly awry but Davis makes an incredible one-handed catch.

Davis’s athleticism in the clip above is something worth noting (in regards to the sharpness of his route). Davis says he lost 10-15 pounds in the offseason, likely in an effort to add quickness and explosiveness to his game. Those traits are certainly on display in the play above. We didn’t see too many routes like that from Davis last year.

Garrett Wilson caught a touchdown from Flacco on this long-lasting play, made possible by great pass protection from the offensive line.

After turning heads with a 75-yard touchdown on Friday, Breece Hall stood out again. Hall broke loose for a big run up the middle and also caught a deep pass from Flacco.

Rookie cornerback Sauce Gardner had an interception on Friday and continued to make noise on Saturday. Here, he matches up one-on-one against tight end Kyle Pitts on the outside, providing tight coverage to force an incompletion.

The Jets and Falcons will enjoy a day off on Sunday before their preseason game at MetLife Stadium on Monday night (8 p.m. ET).
